Thanks, Winn Collier

I'm borrowing these words from my friend, Winn Collier. Winn is the pastor of All Souls in Charlottesville, VA. Since Christmas day he has guided his readers on FB through the 12 days of Christmas, or Christmastide. We end with this day of Epiphany. May Winn's writing usher your soul a piece more into the wonder and mystery of God's parties.
Happy 12th Day of Christmas. We've arrived, and now we enjoy the final songs, the last dance or two. I gave everyone one last gift (a crazy game with Ping Pong balls for the boys, a box of Gearhardt's chocolates to Miska) to remember this 12th day, this day of Epiphany. Today, we sit with the 3 magi who brought themselves, their gifts, to the One who would be Salvation for us. We are grateful. Those three were wild characters, astrologers, ones drawn to wonder and mystery. And yet there they were, caught up in the marvelous story. I wonder if we might simply allow ourselves to be caught up in the marvelous story? I like that our celebration concludes (and the entire rest of the story begins) with three travelers from the East who, by the way many of us act and think these days, should not have even been there. God's parties always include people we think shouldn't be there. Merry Christmas to you. Until next year...
