The Lord your God is with you
No matter what you think, He is with you. I have had many who have asked me, “Where was He when…?” Abuse, tragedy, trauma, death-especially premature death, are all situations that cause this question to bubble in our souls. And the revelation of an affair certainly feels tragic, traumatic and nearly like death.
Even when you don’t pay attention to Him… The Lord your God is with you.
Even when you don’t feel Him…The Lord your God is with you.
Even when you question His presence…The Lord your God is with you.
Even when you can’t take it any more…The Lord your God is with you.
Even when you feel another tear can’t possibly fall from your lashes… The Lord your God is with you.
Hear this if you hear nothing else…The Lord your God is with you.
He is present in the friendships that renew your soul. Like my friends Krista and Jenn. They listen, they laugh, they linger.
He is present in the images of beauty that stir your heart to seek more. Like yesterday morning when I caught a glimpse of the sun rising in the distance and I chased off down the street in order to get a closer glimpse, ending up sitting in my car in the middle of the parking lot (not in a parking spot mind you, truly in the middle) at work for a good ten minutes watching it rise.
He is present in the warmth of the sunshine as I sit in the café courtyard all alone enjoying my leftovers for lunch.
He is present in the phone call made to my friend whose Mom is dying. I am sad for my friend because she will miss her Mom, but a little jealous of her Mom that she has now gone to meet Jesus.
He is present in the stillness of the quiet morning as I sit in my antique rocker snuggled in my ladybug blanket soaking in His word and seeking His Grace for the day.
