366/444 Healing from Infidelity: Grief and Mercy

Mercy is not the ability to no longer feel the pain and heartache of living in this world.  Mercy is knowing that I am being held through the pain by my Father.’

~Do You Think I’m Beautiful by Angela Thomas

It will require a shift from wondering “when it will be over?” to grief as a way of knowing God more intimately.

I hear people say I want to know God more. What they mean is I need to read my bible more and shoot up prayers of petition. Those aren't bad actions but often how God draws us nearer is through pain. So I ask, do you really want to know God more? You know, if it involves pain? God is merciful to us in our pain. It may not feel like it at the moment but often he'll give us a glimpse of his mercy as we look backwards.
