249/444 Healing from Infidelity: Spiritual Intimacy 7, Rhythm
2012.05.11
I'm sitting in our sun room as I 'pen' this. I enjoy sitting back here and taking in the tall trees, birds chirping and playing. Some have actually annexed a part of my eave. They must like it back here too. It's often filled with sunshine.
Much of my time I'm back here by myself. It's soothing, still, quiet time. Sometimes I read and sometimes I just sit and watch and listen. It's a place I connect with God.
Other times Ann will join me. We'll share a meal or catch up with one another's day. We might read together, joke around or share our concerns and desires for prayer.
Just outside the sun room on a covered patio is a porch swing. I venture to say that napping on that swing for Ann is a favorite place of alone time with God. We'll also share meals and time together out there. It's peaceful for me to sit out there while it rains.
So in these 'sanctuaries' we have alone time with God and together time with God. It's important for us to find a good rhythm to this alone time and together time. I enjoy being with her and I also enjoy seeing the glow on her face and hearing what God has revealed to her when she's cloistered herself back here with him.
"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." ~Matthew 11:28
