138/444 Healing from Infidelity: Holy Observer

There are times when we take ourselves too seriously and times when we need to take ourselves more seriously.

I use to enjoy reading the satirical Holy Observer  (they quit updating a while ago but check out the Joel Osteen blessed whitestrips; 'If your soul is white as snow why shouldn't your teeth be'?)for when I was taking life too seriously, getting tense and starting to get that Jack Nicholson look in my eyes. You know the one I am talking about. Yes, that one.

One of my favorite Jack Nicholson lines is from Going South. He said about Mary Steenburgen, 'She's so mean she hangs chairs on the wall so people cain't sits in 'em.'

That's mean. Real mean.

A lack of humor and fun and play in our marriage was part of the message of Ann's affair. I had become Mr. Serious Christian. In that, we lost so much of what brought us together. We liked to hang out and have fun together in the beginning. It was tough to deal with the reality that she found play in her affair. It was worth my humilty to see the truth that I had errored in not remembering to have fun with my wife. We flirt often with another and play often today.
