354/444 Healing from Infidelity: Idyll

Hat tip to my friend, Jim Cress for posting this.

Idyll

A stretch of necessarily idle time lay before him,

rare in his life these days, so much so that he felt
anxious at first rather than calm, but just at first.

He gradually waded out into the deeps of doing
absolutely nothing productive by man’s standards
and thought busy hands are equally the devil’s tools.

Pitter-patter. It began to rain in his mind. An efficient
man would’ve hoisted an umbrella and hustled, but he
sensed the drops a compelling and generous providence

of Nature, so he sat in the downpour and got soaked to
the bone by memories long-stored in his attic, and for
the first time in a long time he felt a friend to himself.
