After careful examination, the area of concern is a cyst, and is benign (not cancer).
That's what the 'Explanation of Findings' says. For twenty-four hours we just didn't know. They asked Ann to come back in and redo her mammography x-rays. By their language when they called her we were fairly confident that there wasn't a problem. But, you never know.
I found myself holding her a little closer. I kissed her forehead a little more often. We had about an hour after work to sit and eat before my son's football game started last Thursday. We sat on the park bench. We ate, enjoyed all the dogs being walked for a bit. We had a fine view of Green Mountain to enjoy in the overcast sky. We just hung out, enjoyed being together, and enjoyed where we were.
Ann rested her head on my shoulder. I leaned into her and she into me. She closed her eyes. I just wanted to be close and touch her skin. I kissed her forehead and touched her neck. She wasn't looking when tears came into my eyes. It hurt to consider losing her even if the chance was remote.
So she went the next morning for another mammogram. Her tech said it is like taking two bricks from the freezer and walking out into the street and asking a stranger to smoosh your boobs with them and take a picture :)) We are lucky we don't have to do that guys. Before she left she had the paper that said, '...the area of concern is a cyst...'. I felt relieved. It was also a gift to be in touch with how deeply I love her.
Lori posted on Bad Days Make You Think. She seemed to be in touch with similar feelings to what I felt. For a young woman not yet married she has much wisdom.
